Dr Katy Turton

Biography

Dr Katy Turton is a University Teacher at the University of the 杏吧原创 and Islands. She completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow and has worked at the University of York and Queen鈥檚 University, Belfast. Specialising in European, Russian and Soviet history, with a particular focus on women鈥檚 experiences, she is the author of Forgotten Lives: The Role of Lenin鈥檚 Sisters in the Russian Revolution, 1864-1937 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007) and Family Networks and the Russian Revolutionary Movement, 18701940 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018). Most recently, she has published a novel, Blackbird's Song (Stairwell Books, 2021). Set during the first Russian revolution of 1905, it follows the lives and loves of three students caught up in the struggle against the Tsar.
