Seeking applicants for PhD in the history of Highland Park whisky distillery

Project Description

This is a three year studentship on the history of the Highland Park Distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney, from earliest times to the present day. It is a joint initiative between the University of the 杏吧原创 and Islands and the Edrington Group, who own the Highland Park distillery.

This exciting collaboration between the University of the 杏吧原创 and Islands鈥 world leading Centre for Northern Studies and one of the most iconic whisky distilleries in Scotland will provide the researcher with a unique opportunity to gain not only academic skills but also skills in research impact articulation which is so important in today鈥檚 academic environment. To that end, the researcher will provide materials for a popular book, for the visitor鈥檚 centre, and for an exhibition. The researcher and the supervisory team will undertake staff training sessions for the distillery guides.

The project is expected to start on 1 November 2017.

Applicants must possess a minimum of an Honours degree at 2:1 and/or a Master鈥檚 Degree (or International equivalent) in a relevant subject.

Funding Notes

The project will be part funded by the Edrington Group with 拢5000 per year for three years and part funded by 杏吧原创 with 拢5000 per year for three years.
