Government minister tests key north project for himself

Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland’s Languages visited the University of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ and Islands Department of Diabetes and Cardiovascular Science, based at the Centre for Health Science in Inverness, on Friday (24 August) to experience first-hand the work of the STEM North of Scotland initiative.

STEM aims to increase the number of young people with science, technology, engineering and maths qualifications and ensure a skilled workforce to support the region’s key sectors.

Its STEM Ambassadors Programme, in partnership with ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ and Islands Enterprise, provides role models to young people with real life perspective of careers in this area. There are currently around 500 ambassadors in the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ and Islands from a diverse range of more than 120 companies.
